The gem of Capodimonte lake
At about 200 meters from the apartment begins an enchanting lakeside promenade with which you can arrive in 10/15 minutes in the heart of Capodimonte, also known as the gem of Capodimonte lake.
The center
Capodimonte is an ancient village perched on a promontory 334 meters above sea level. It’s located on a peninsula on the south western shore of the lake. Its territory was shaped as a result of the volcanic activity of the vulsin apparatus, and is formed by hills that rise up to 150 meters from the level of the lake.
It is the most famous tourist center of Bolsena lake and is about half an hour by car from Viterbo. Rocca Farnese is certainly its most important monument, with its octagonal construction it was built in 1365 on a pre-existing one, near the little harbour, located in front of the amazing Bisentine island.
The coast
Capodimonte has an equipped coastline of over 6 km, and, with its more than mild climate, it’s a very popular destination not only during the sunny season but throughout the whole year. In fact, thanks to the influence of the lake, winters are characterized by more than rare snowfalls, while the summer months are hot and constantly ventilated by pleasant breezes.
The “modern” part of the town has developed flat, facing the lakefront. It soon has became the favorite place for tourists, since during the day it is possible to take advantage of the lake with its equipped beaches and do all kinds of water sports. In the early evening and evening hours, however, it is possible to stop in one of the accommodation facilities along the entire lakeside promenade, for an aperitif or a dinner fresh fish based.
